Pallet Truck-Compatible Chassis – the Roller Dilemma Solved

The Problem: Pallet Truck + Chassis = Conflict of Objectives

For safety reasons, hand pallet trucks have a limited lifting height of around 200 mm – sufficient to lift and move a pallet from the floor. However, if this pallet is on a chassis, the calculation is different: the lifting forks must first overcome the chassis before they can lift the pallet. The chassis must therefore remain strictly below 95 mm in height for the pallet truck to still have sufficient lift. Low height means small wheels – and this is where the real problem begins. The wheel is not the weak link, but the roller housing: small housings are usually designed for significantly lower load capacities. A chassis for a 500 kg pallet requires wheels that can carry at least 180 kg per wheel at a height of 90 mm. Such wheels are available on the market – but only at very high prices.

The Solution: Large Housing, Small Wheel

SLT solves the dilemma with a simple technical trick: We use the solid roller housing of a 125 mm wheel – with the correspondingly high load capacity design – and re-drill it so that a 65 mm wheel can be installed. The result: the height of a small wheel, the load capacity of a large wheel, at a reasonable price.

Suitable Additions

For use without a pallet truck – i.e., if the pallet remains permanently on the frame – the flat chassis with larger wheels and higher wheel load capacity are suitable.
